Tools Needed:
- 44mm x 16 notch BB socket, such as Park Tool BBT-69.2. DO NOT use a spanner wrench.
- High accuracy torque wrench
- High quality grease. We recommend Kogel Waterproof Paste
Preparation:
- Remove old lockring and rotor from hub.
- Clean and degrease hub splines and threads.
- Inspect hub threads for damage.
- Clean and degrease rotor.
- Inspect rotor for damage, paying attention to the face splines and making sure brake friction surface thickness is above mfg. minimum.
Installation:
- Apply grease to to hub threads and splines.
- Apply grease to rotor splines and face indexes, being careful not to get grease on or near brake friction surface.
- Assemble rotor to hub.
- Install OCDC Lockring loosely by hand in a clockwise direction, first rotating at least 1/2 turn counterclockwise to ensure threads engage correctly. If you feel binding before a minimum of two complete rotations, back the lockring out and start again.
- Place socket over the loosely installed lockring and firmly against the rotor face and torque to 40Nm (29.5Lbf). You will feel the lockring clicking into rotor indexes before you achieve full torque. Continue tightening to 40Nm and DO NOT under-torque the lockring.
- Wipe off any excess grease, again making sure not to contaminate the braking surface.
- Ride. Rinse. Repeat.
